Who's Really To Blame?
They say that when we point our finger at someone, we're pointing three at ourselves. Could we also be to blame? What role did we play? Is it possible that we dropped the ball?
So many thoughts crossed my mind when I saw this visual. How could so many people point the finger at one person? What could have went wrong? How long could this have been going on? Was she truly the one responsible? Why is she still there?
From my many years in corporate, I can recall times...well, one in particular, that there was someone who just couldn't get it together. No matter how often we would offer training, provided step by step procedures, have meetings, provide a hands on approach, he simply could not grasp it.
I'm not sure if you've ever experienced this, but it does cause team frustration, missed deadlines, and an increased burden on the team. I can't imagine 6 people pointing the finger at the same time over the same instance; definitely as a recurring theme.
This is when we all have to ask ourselves, "Who's Really To Blame"? Why has this gone on so long? What measures have been put in place? Has the root of the problem been identified? What would be a better fit for this employee? What is their frame of mind? What has been their response? Have they stated they needed additional support? Is management ignoring the urgency or failing to respond appropriately?

All blame cannot be placed on this one individual. Management has to take responsibility and accountability.
We all make mistakes, we are all human, we all need correction and direction. When this is not provided, it creates a ripple effect and negatively impacts the team, department, and eventually, the company culture.
It starts off as a minor inconvenience, but quickly creates a loss of employee morale, productivity, engagement, connection, and increases friction, and employee turnover.
This is more common than you think. If you have experienced or witnessed this, share your story below. How was it resolved? Did you stick around to find out?
