From Dread to Dreams: Finding Purpose in the Present

What has been going through your mind lately? It feels like all of us are carrying something like a question we can’t quite answer yet, a situation we didn’t plan for, or a conversation we keep replaying as we try to make sense of what it means. While these moments may not be loud, we do allow them to demand our attention.

Why is it so easy to forget that we will never have everything figured out or know which path will make the most sense months or years from now?  Why do we still hold ourselves to an impossible standard of believing clarity comes before we actually take the steps forward?

We end up dreading the 'next'. We brace, imagine the worst, and without realizing it, we start living inside the fear of what might happen instead of staying present with what is.

It's easy to complain about others wearing us down or being demanding of us, but what are we putting on ourselves?  When we begin to change how we look at our current situation, something shifts. Dread loosens up and we can begin to dream and to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We're able to think clearer and see that what we’re walking through may be preparing us for something greater...to a place we're experienced in to understand, lead, or support others in ways we couldn’t before. Our experiences can become stories that connect us to those with similar experiences.  It becomes more visible that our pain was carrying our purpose.

Turning dread into dreams doesn’t mean ignoring what’s hard or pretending everything is fine. It means allowing ourselves to see possibility where we once only saw fear. It means trusting that this season, even if it’s unclear, can transport us closer to who we’re becoming and who we’re meant to serve.

Whether in our personal or professional lives, let go of the dread and reclaim your energy, see the impossible as potential, and create space for others to do the same.

If you've been in a season of dread or know someone who can relate, tune in and share the full episode on Spotify or Apple podcasts.
