Starting with What You Have: My Honest Reflection
Starting with what you have has always been the heartbeat of my journey. At episode 101, it feels good to pause and reflect on just how far I've come.
I didn’t begin this podcast with a studio or a polished plan. I began with a phone, a tripod, and a message that wouldn’t let me sleep. I didn’t know if anyone would listen. I only knew that I had something to say and that silence was no longer an option.
While definitely something to be celebrated, I also realized how easy it is to move past our own milestones without celebrating them. I almost did it again. I almost let the moment slip by because I was already thinking about the next thing on my list. Isn’t that how we often treat ourselves? Quietly achieving, barely acknowledging, immediately rushing.
As I reflect back, I remember the nervous beginnings. The nights spent editing the same audio over and over trying to perfect all the imperfections. There were even times where I almost didn’t release an episode because I felt like I wasn’t ready.
And still I kept going.
Research shows that most people don’t make it past three episodes and only eight percent make it to ten episodes, so crossing one hundred is a major milestone and a testament to what can be accomplished when we show up even when life is life'ing…even when the internet drops, kids get sick, the weather shifts, or the confidence dips.
I learned that consistency doesn’t protect you from interruptions. It teaches you how to navigate and be proactive.
So much changed...my equipment changed, my voice strengthened, my topics deepened, I moved from audio to video, learned how to clip content, schedule releases, and so much more. As I discovered the new realm, it led to even more self-discovery. I discovered that my message was never about fitting into a niche. It was about connecting across communities, workplaces, families, and everyday walks of life.
I’m so grateful for the journey, for the growth I can see, for the tribe forming around this mission of unity, humanity, and leadership.
Now, I’m asking you the same questions I asked myself:
Where in your life did you start with what you had, even if it didn’t feel like enough?
What milestone have you quietly passed without celebrating?
Take a moment. Honor yourself. Your journey deserves to be celebrated.
