When the Strong Are Struggling: A Message for the Helpers and Those in Need
This message is for those dependable, strong, trustworthy, always makes time individuals who hold it down for everyone else, even when they're barely holding on themselves.
I know what it feels like to show up and be there for everyone, not because it's required or forced, but because we care, and at the same time, we're unintentionally overwhelming ourselves. We may look fine on the outside, but on the inside, we're exhausted.
In my latest podcast episode, I spoke about one of my recent challenges and how it was not only heavy, but slightly embarrassing. Have you ever wanted to help someone, but weren't in the best position to do so? Yes, you can be strong and still struggle. This is a perfect example of strength. We will be tested and we don't have to hide.
I truly believe that by sharing our stories of trials and triumphs, we are helping those who are facing similar challenges and living similar stories. While we've been taught to stay silent, it becomes counter productive.
It's okay to ask for help, to pause, to rest, to share and provide a safe space to have these conversations.
For those who have those dependable and always available friends, give them a call. Check on them. Let them know you will be for them, as well. Ask how they're doing with intention and sincerity and if they need anything. You have no idea how the smallest gesture can lift the heaviest heart.
Tune in to my latest episode on Spotify Apple Podcast or YouTube to hear real stories and life experiences I shared and how we all can do better.
