When You've Finally Felt Seen: Tribes by Seth Godin

Have you ever went out looking for something and ended up finding yourself?  Whether it was a book you read, a message you heard, or a moment you experienced, it spoke directly to you and about you...You finally felt understood. Finally, someone said what you’ve been thinking, but with more clarity and authority than you have ever put into words.

That’s what happened to me as I read the book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us by Seth Godin. If you appreciate real leadership, believe in working hard and critical thinking, you can probably relate.  (If you have to read the book, I suggest you go get it).

You've given from a good place and offered ideas from a place of care, not ego, but were still met with resistance, silence, or even ridicule. Maybe you’ve stayed quiet now, not because you don’t care, but because you’ve learned that speaking up comes with a cost. Maybe you’ve been labeled “difficult” just for your honest feedback that was requested or using the open-door policy that was offered.

You’re not alone and more importantly, you’re not wrong.

So many people are showing up every day in workplaces that don’t value what makes them human. Spaces that run like factories: top-down, do as I say, I didn't ask for your opinion or innovation, profit over people methodologies. Where people are managed, not led. Where asking “how was your day?” is rare, and feeling heard is even more rare, but it doesn't have to be this way.

Just as Godin states and I have mentioned in so many podcast episodes, we can change the culture. One voice at a time. One act of courage. One moment of honest leadership, whether or not your title reflects it.

This message is for the ones who speak up in meetings and get overlooked, the ones who quietly mentor others without recognition, and the ones who lead from the middle just because they care, just because they are natural leaders.

If any of this sounds like your story, this week’s episode is one you need to hear. We talk about the power of finding your people, the cost of staying silent, and what it really means to be a heretic in a system that rewards compliance over innovation.

Share this message with someone who needs to hear this.

🎧 Listen to the full episode now and remember, your voice isn’t too much. It’s exactly what your workplace, your community, and this world needs.
